House rules

Read this once before you shelve a comic. It is short, it is honest, and it is the deal. Questions and complaints: comic@studioaction.io.

Selling your comic

• To sell, you provide a downloadable PDF and set up your own payment link. We suggest PayPal or your own Stripe.
• Shelving costs one dollar in AktionFilm credits. That is all we charge. We take no commission on your comics.
• A sale is an arrangement between you and the buyer. We have nothing to do with it, and we do not refund.

Your rights stay yours

• We do not take rights. We do not train on your data. We will not use your character without your permission.
• Putting your comic on the shelf is not a publishing deal, and it is not copyright protection, a trademark or a brand. Register your own if you need that.

Canon, and everyone else’s characters

• Unless we say so explicitly, your story is not canon. It does not change other people’s stories or the world. To apply for canon, see CANON.
• You may tell your own story in the Drift and use the official Quantum Drift characters.
• Do not use other users’ characters without their consent — especially if you are selling for money.
• Interested in designing a mission, a side story, or something that could become canon? Write to us. We would love to hear from you.

Not allowed

• No erotic comics. Attempt to publish porn and you are banned.
• Anything sexual involving a child: banned and reported.
• No real people in your art without their written consent. It is illegal; we cooperate with law enforcement and you are banned.
• No superheroes, no other studios’ stories, no remakes of similar work. This is not a fan-fiction shop; it is a creative space for original work. Copyright and infringement complaints go to comic@studioaction.io.

Say how much AI you used

Disclose it honestly when you shelve. Did you write the story? Did you draw any original part? Work that is completely human-made carries a gold border and hangs in the Gold Room, its own room in the shop. We suggest you put your own watermark on your images.

We want to help real artists, so human-made work gets its own room and the front of the shop. We will also promote people drawing original characters and writers who want to promote their work.

Custom work and commissions

• Buying a custom-made character or piece is a deal between you and the artist. The artist gets 100% of the commission.
• That also means it is between the two of you: we cannot offer refunds, and we are indemnified from any legal repercussions of the deal.

Complaints

Something in the shop that should not be there, a copyright problem, a person’s likeness used without consent — one address: comic@studioaction.io.

Heart to heart

It is an exciting time to be a creative. It is also controversial. There is a thin line: with this technology, new creatives should be able to enter the scene, and at the same time there needs to be some pacing, and human-made work needs to be centre stage.

I have no idea how big this can become, so at any time we may make changes. My promise to you: I will always inform, never assume, and do the best I can for the people using this service. Laws change. The industry changes. My goal is to bring multi-media creators together, not to destroy an industry by replacing people. That said, I honour new creators too. Let’s not discredit people who make great stories using resources and technology.

Quality — the gentleperson’s deal

• Do not put out lazy, bad work. Aim for one or two comics a week, your best work. Keep the quality high and we build a culture.
• Respect others. Be positive.
• I am new at this. Give me meaningful feedback so I can make this space better for everyone.
